Recently I gave a keynote presentation at a networking event on how AI is changing everything about business. The group included high-profile brand leaders whose businesses ranged from venture-backed startups to global companies.

The minute the presentations were over and the lights went up, I was barraged with questions. As I chatted with the attendees, I could see the fear in their eyes. The way they talked about AI told me they were petrified of being replaced.

On the one hand, I see how that can happen. The statistics alone are mind-boggling: ChatGPT had over 1M users in less than a week after launch, and its users grew by 9,900% in 60 days — a record for the fastest-growing platform in history. Today it has over 100 million users, and according to The Future of Jobs Report from the World Economic Forum, about 75% of companies are looking to incorporate AI technologies into their businesses over the next five years. In other words, AI is no longer a nice-to-have — it’s a must.

However, if you’re not a digital native — and many in leadership positions today aren’t because they’re ages 40+ — this accelerated transformation can be intimidating. After all, it isn’t just another shiny toy; it’s the next largest revolution, bigger than the internet.

But you know what’s worse?

Something that sounds quaint in comparison: the blank page.

If I had to characterize the vibe in the networking event room, it was anxious. As I mentioned, the general sentiment was how can we/I keep up?

Mental health is a critical workplace issue. A recent comprehensive study showed that pretty much everyone has work-related stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues.

92.6% of people have experienced mental health challenges that have impacted their work performance.
